STONE FREE RICE Since it was weekend, I planned to treat myself with an ice cream. I went to one of the general shop and ordered the vanilla ice-cream. While I was waiting, another customer came rushing asking for a bag of rice. ‘Uncle Can I have a bag of rice,’ the man said. ‘Yeah! Which brand do you prefer?’ the shopkeeper asked.                ‘Any type that is “stone free”, the man said.                ‘All my stock is “stone free”, the shopkeeper smiled sheepishly and continued,                ‘Even if the bag of rice has stone, it is free of cost. You don’t have to pay a penny...

“HEART OVER MIND” Charles hastily crossed the road, paced up and down the footpath opposite to Hotel Jojoys where he works. It was a cold Saturday afternoon, rather windy. The birch trees, almost bare of leaves, were violently bending down. Men and Women in their heavy coats, boys and girls with their arms, interlocked, walked fast anxious to get a place of shelter, a restaurant/bar, or to reach home. Charles usually vociferous, kept a mysterious silence, and continued, apparently unaffected to gaze the display dangling leather- jacket at Cozys, in fluffy red collar, a real winter stuff. A particular tanned attracted his attention. He stepped into the...
“Find Her Way” Catastrophe stuck when we least expect Things fall apart with irremediable damage Still the center remain dead solid Holding what’s left to refurbish anew. The distorted soul withhold grievances Enduring the anarchy alike apocalypse  Battling the war of mind and heart Losing thyself with nothing left to win. The mind accepts to move forward  Only to be interfered by obstinate heart Reluctant to unfasten the grip of ruthless past Leaving no atonement to wounded soul.   Sleep has lost its way and night seems long Dreaming has become an arduous task Disillusioned by the reality and apparition Longing for the dose to transcend you. The phase seems muddled and clouded Making it difficult for rays to penetrate Only after an indisputable cascade Will the sun find her way back to shine?                     ...
Me and my loneliness Forlorn did my soul survive The brutal reality crept in Leaving nothing but the scars The bruises only to remind the cruelty. Far and wearing the journey seems Wavering the strong wind gust Leaving nothing but the coldness Showering drizzle over the deserted soul. Even in this buzzing chaotic beehives Lost in the confusion and defragments Leaving nothing but the ambiguousness Distancing the spirit form sublimity of soul. Me and my loneliness trespassing the forbidden line Only to accord with the façade reality Wearing mask with the suitability Leaving nothing but the fakeness. Ceedee-13/6/2018

His Majesty's First visit to the college (GCIT)

Image
Until now I have been among the students who desired to be the first in line to see and adore the charismatic personality of His Majesty. I would always tussle myself in the crowd to be in the first line (literally to be as close as possible) so that I conceive all the words of HM. The notice of HM's visit during college days always lightened the mood and induced the excitement to my hysterical adrenaline. I would look forward to the audience with HM and made sure that I had a small notepad to jot down HM's speech. The HM's visit always was unprecedented as the speech inspired and motivated me to do better as a student.  I think in a way it was epiphany or realization of being modest and true to ourselves. However, this time when HM visited the college I am no longer a student and I don't have to sweat profusely to get a good place to sit. As a faculty of the college, we get a special privilege to be at the forefront. This time I have all the ambiance left to me to ...

Ignorance vs Negligence

Image
Ignorance is unintentional as a person doesn't have the required knowledge about a subject or task. Ignorance is usually caused by unwillingness or laziness to learn new things. The world has abundant knowledge to be learned by an individual. A person should be abreast of the daily updates if s/he doesn't want to be tagged as ignorant. The classroom lesson or any academic lesson will not suffice the need for knowledge and skills required in the real world. If we become book-warmish and confined ourselves within the four walls of the classroom or library we might become a text-oriented person. We might know all the theories, philosophies and sciences as we have read about it but the big hurdle we might come across is in applying what we know. Knowing is not enough. The person with knowledge should also have skills to apply what s/he knows. In this fast-evolving and rat-racing era a person with both the knowledge and skills is regarded. Both theory and practice should be acq...

Kishuthara- a facade

Image
The outer appearance are deceptive and never to be trusted. The cynical world has created more skeptics. We often land up judging people by their looks, dresses, characteristics or the overall physical appearance. If a person wears a smile we judge him/her as a happy and peaceful person. Likewise if a person is silent and secluded, the person is moody and anti-social. If a girl wears a makeup and hangs out with a "BOY" friends, she is labelled as whore. If a boy has a small and dizzy eye, he is into drugs. If a woman wears flamboyant Kiras and dresses, she is showing off. If a man plays archery, he is not a family man. In an organisation if a sweeper or any subordinates wears exquisite dresses, they are scrutinized and are judged as a people with no working interest. ( In our society sweepers and gardeners are meant for ragged clothes.) . The class division has long faded away but human mind is still divided. The aristocratic still thinks that they are the superior an...
